after school chewing on paper towels?

i caught my lead program leader in an after school program having the kids chew on paper towels. They were trying to say the words with the towels in their mouths. the lessons that we do are supposed to support the common core and should have the lessons to me a day ahead.

I did stop this behavior and tell her it is a safety concern and they could choke or swallow them. I also told them it used to be used as a punishment. what do you make of this?

No idea why she would do this, but I can't imagine it's a real safety issue. It also has NOTHING to do with the common core standards.

Report her to your superiors. It is similar to putting marbles in a mouth and just as dangerous. Crack down hard on her, this is ridiculous, and can be deadly as you said..

Proper elocution for children or anyone is to explain how sounds are formed then record each child and play it back . No paper towels, marbles or tennis balls involved
