parable of the unmerciful servant justifies belief in purgatory? is this correct then, to believe in purgatory?

Matthew 18:21-35

“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold[b] was brought to him. Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

“At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

“But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.[c] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.

“His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’

“But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.

“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

“This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.

there is no need for purgatory now since Jesus released all from paradise and took them to heaven.

It was then used to widen hell.

Not at all. That story was about Mercy and justice.

There is no biblical basis for purgatory. Simply, it is from Greek mythology and was adopted into Christianity.

The Catholic church admits as such:

After reviewing what Catholic writers have said regarding such texts as 2 Maccabees 12:39-45, Matthew 12:32, and 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, the New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967, Vol. XI, p. 1034) acknowledges: “In the final analysis, the Catholic doctrine on purgatory is based on tradition, not Sacred Scripture.”

“The church has relied on tradition to support a middle ground between heaven and hell.”—U.S. Catholic, March 1981, p. 7.

From a biblical standpoint, it is wise for any Christian denomination who wants to adopt non-biblical teachings to take to hearts the sober warnings from God...

(Galatians 1:8, 9) However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something beyond the good news we declared to you, let him be accursed.  As we have said before, I now say again, Whoever is declaring to you as good news something beyond what you accepted, let him be accursed.

First we need to look at the word torturers which is the word used tort you owe money.

But did not pay it like you were supposed to your creditor goes to court and demands you be sent to the work house to pay off your debts. The workhouse is a prison brigade you live in a dorm get simple food and clothes and your entire wage after that goes to the debtor.

This situation could last up to 50 years until the golden jubilee when all debts got cancelled.

No, it is not. Neither the concept nor the word even existed until the 12th century.

No purgatory. That was a lie started by the Catholic Church saying people were held in a holding place (purgatory) and you could pray them out and/or buy indulgences.

    No

pergatory undoes the work of forgiveness

there is nothing to work off. We play no part in our forgiveness except that we repent

Since Jesus had to pay for our sins with his blood

what currency can you provide that will equal that?
