An open account is, in international trade, a process where one country ships goods to another country before the other country even pays for the goods. Open borders is an idealistic dream whereby people can move freely from one country to another without restriction. Open accounts work when importing and exporting nations respect and trust each other. But open borders would require so much respect and trust among nations that it still is only an idealist's dream.
