Can I call myself black?

Can I call myself black if I come from Mexican Decent? I've learned that I most likely have African dna as a Mexican. I'm just not sure if I should call myself black or Mexican. I'm not sure how to identify my ethnicity. I want to call myself black but I feel like I am too light enough and I am neglecting my native roots. I think it's appropriate for me just to identify myself as a person with color.

The thing is...unlike Black, Mexican is not a race, it's a nationality. There Mestizo Mexicans, fully White Mexicans, fully Native American Mexicans, and even a very small amount of Black and Mulatto Mexicans.

Telling immigration that you are African decent want bring Mexican good luck . Try saying you're white on your ethnic background.

You can have a DNA test done from Ancestry and then you'll know exactly what you're ethnicity is.

Unless you do that, you should probably just use whatever ethnicity you're sure of on forms where they ask. But if it's a friendly conversation and it comes up for some reason, just say whatever you want.
