Do you find any value in theories such as the ones to be found in the letter of Sokon Matsumura, or you mainly disregard these.....?

and focus only in practicing? Martial arts, otherwise, or both the value.

Thanks in advance for all the answers and feel free to elaborate.

I definitely do find value in things like that but I proceed with caution. Many things have been attributed to well known people to give what has been said more credibility and they were made up. Doesn't mean that they were bad things or had no value but I do consider the source how much value I give to something. There are also many misinterpretations and mistranslations to take into consideration when dealing with Asian texts. The real eyeopener was when I took 5 different translations of the "Book of Five Rings" and compared them. Some stuff was nowhere even close.
