Have to hit function to type numbers or use the the spacebar.?

My Toshiba laptop just performed an auto update and now if I want to type numbers or hit the space bar I have to hit the function key each time.

Update:

Fixed the problem. If anyone else needs help the update changed some stuff. Uninstall the Synaptics Pointing Driver then restart your computer. Seems most people are having this issue.

    Since XP, I've learned to avoid Windows headaches simply by turning off auto updates right after installation.
