Would you still believe in the bible now?

The first commandment says "I am a jealous God " you can't be holy and have jealousy. The bible also says that God will smite the wicked. Sounds like revenge to me. What do you think?

The Old Testament Bible books have parts that perhaps date back beyond 5,000 years.

Antiquarian folklore and myth existed in Oral Tradition prior to etching in stone or ink on animal hide. It was the ancient Story Tellers who carried this antique Literature in their heads. And perhaps they themselves the inventors and authors with the intent to entertain and educate their audiences.

The New Testament Bible is antique political bullshit from the Roman Empire perpetuated today by professional religious charlatans.....

I beg everyone to pick up a Bible and try to read them ....

    We need more atheists...Thanks ...

A3 How the Bible Came to Us

The oldest complete Masoretic manuscript is the Leningrad Codex, which dates from 1008/1009 C.E. However, in the middle of the 20th century, some 220 Biblical manuscripts or fragments were discovered among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Those Biblical manuscripts were more than a thousand years older than the Leningrad Codex. A comparison of the Dead Sea Scrolls with the Leningrad Codex confirms a vital point: While the Dead Sea Scrolls contain some variations in wording, none of those variations affect the message itself.

Jealousy also means to fiercely guard what is rightfully yours. This is the jealousy God speaks of. We all belong to Him. He gave us life. He provides all we need for life here on earth and beyond. We owe everything to Him. He is the Potter and we are the clay. The clay does not dictate to The Potter. Those who reject Him and dismiss His gifts, blessings and grace will be cast away. This is not revenge- it is justice.

Sure. Jealousy is a wounded heart. Worship Satan by following his lies and reject the magnificent sacrifice of God brings a jealous God and no surprise.

In many contexts, the Hebrew word translated “jealousy” corresponds to the common meaning of the English word, namely, to feel anger over the apparent unfaithfulness of a close associate or to envy others for their possessions. (Proverbs 6:34; Isaiah 11:13) However, the same Hebrew word also has a positive connotation. For example, it may be used of the “zeal,” or protective ardor, that Jehovah shows for his servants or of his “requiring exclusive devotion.” (Exodus 34:14; 2 Kings 19:31; Ezekiel 5:13; Zechariah 8:2)

Jealousy in the Bible isn't our contemporary understanding. If you were raising a child and you had a neighbor who was interfering with your child-rearing decisions, what would be your attitude toward that neighbor? If it were me, I would tell the neighbor to stop it immediately. That's the Biblical jealousy.

God smiting the wicked is revenge? Maybe the purpose is to prevent more evil.
