2 PARTS TO THIS Q. FIRST OFF, YOU PULLED THE CAP WHEN THE RADIATOR WAS WARM. PRESSURE WAS RELEASED, WHICH IS WHAT YOU SAW. IF YOU ONLY HAVE WATER IN THE SYSTEM, YOU ARE NOT DOING MUCH GOOD. IT SHOULD BE 50/50 WITH ANTIFREEZE. IF IT IS NOT FULL, ADD TO IT.

Let the radiator cool down , seek the reason for it overheating , repair the fault then pour fresh clean water in the radiator and secure the cap , you should have no further problems , seek Garage advise if unsure .

Its fine. Just means you took it off when the engine was hot. Just let it cool down and re check the level

You are never to open the radiator when hot, NEVER! You risk burns when it spews. Everything for the last 20 or so years has an overflow jug for adding fluids and checking antifreeze levels. Get fluids up where there are suppose to be before driving. Then you should be good to go.

You opened it while the motor was hot and the cooling system was still under pressure. Just recheck the antifreeze level when the motor is cold.

The system is pressurized. When it is completely cool, fill the resevoir to the "cold" line. then run the engine.

Never unscrew the cap fully when the engine is hot. This is why it says remove only when cold. If you have to take it off when hot, just undo to the first click

The radiator itself is still good. But you will need to replace the lost fluid. The fluid in a radiator is hot and under pressure. If you take off the cap without letting it cool, it is going to spew everywhere. You are lucky that you were not seriously burned. Note that the cap warns you not to remove it while it is still hot.
The lost of fluid will not harm the radiator. But if you drive it without replacing the lost fluid you risk damage to the engine block running the motor and possibly the radiator itself.

Sounds like you opened the radiator when the car was hot, which is foolish. Once the car engine has cooled refill it with a mix of water & anti-freeze. If you have an overheating problem, get to a mechanic to check the thermostat.
