Do you feel you need permission to care about yourself and be happy?

When I was a young girl and feeling the world on my shoulders a wonderful person gave me permission to care about myself and it lifted my many burdens. I was also told "I am not responsible for the behavior of others but I am responsible for my behavior."

    It doesn't require me to give up something. Being happy was my own choice.
