Is it alright to be employed or working like that?

Update:

I have a neighbour that seems kind of unusual.

On most days, all of us can see he is home. He never goes out much and he did not seem to have a proper job, at least it seemed to us.

Update 2:

Recently, we realised he is actually a major consultant offering advices to major corporations on how to conduct their businesses. At any one time, he is paid a minimum of tens of thousands of dollars and on averages he gets millions of dollars from his servicxes.

The other day, we read in the papers our government was involved in a multi billion dollar contract with a foreign company and he was their chir\ef adviser.

Update 3:

But yet other than that, he seemed to do no other thing. We also don't see him going out everyday to work.

Is it okay to be working or living like that?

If it pays the bills and he seams to enjoy it then it's fine, let him do what he can to provide for himself.

Some people don't like to socialize a lot, they're fine just hanging out at home by them selves.

His job probably allows him to work from home.

Do you have your nose glued to the window 24/7? He eats so he has to shop for groceries so, yes he goes out. Anyway, it's his business how often he goes out. Naturally, when a person works from home, they don't go out as much as they used to - like Monday through Friday. Many retired or semi-retired people and people who work from home only go out once or twice a week - it just depends on what they have to do outside of the home. It is perfectly alright to be employed like that. Some consulting is always done over the phone, especially after an initial setup and consultation.
