im learning to skateboard, but dont seem to be going anywhere... (literally)?

im learning to skateboard, but when i push off and step onto the board, even if im going down a hill and have been pushing for ages, i will only glide a couple of metres before stopping. are the wheels too tight ( i spun them and they only went round once) or is it just a matter of technique? if its thr wheels, what tool do i need> thanks! (btw, no skate shop i am willing to go to nearby)

Most likely its the bearings my wheels can spin for ages especially if i lube them but if your riding a cheap complete setup than most likely you got the crappy bearings.
