    Pain to both.

In 1970 you could work 40 hours a week in a normal job, and afford a good life for you, and a family, today, to have the same standard of life, you need to work 100 hours a week.

Education 15 times cheaper, so everybody had a chance to work hard, and better themselves.

We priced people out of society, and it's hurting people, especially since the standard-of-life has been free falling since 2008(some shocking regional-stats show people at a standard that we haven't seen in 150 years, so we fell back, way back).

How to fix it, that's tricky, because it's like a sports team needing to rebuild, so first you find the best paying job you can, the cheapest house you can(so you can build funds), then develop from there.

I'm totally connected and empathise with those that are like me. I don't really concern myself with being connected to those that I consider different. I know as an adult that it is impossible to be all things to all people. That doesn't make me heartless. Just a realist.
