netgear nighthawk router?

I have a netgear nighthawk router r8000 triband and it was working fine then as soon as I updated it my internet port where I can plug my separate dsl modem into it is not seeing that I plugged a Ethernet cable in it so I can use my router for wireless..... should I roll back the driver? of the router

    First up power down both the router and the modem.

    Then power up the modem. When that is up power up the router.

    Now see if you can access the modem via the router. If you can't then I'd suspect that the update has wiped your PPOA/PPOE settings, so check these first.

    Only if that all fails would I reload the old router firmwear and the relevent settings.

    Good luck - I know how frustrating it can be using DSL modems with seperate Routers!
