Is it wise to convert a 2010 Dodge RAM 2500 for off-road usage?

I'm looking for a new truck (or new used truck) and i'm thinking of converting my existing truck (a 2010 Dodge RAM 2500) for use in rough terrain/pasture. I've tried using it as a pasture truck before but ended up damaging the rear drive train. I'd never take it out into the pasture again as-is based on the costliness of the repair.

I wonder though, if there's something I can do to make it into a suitable pasture truck (ie: lift kit, mud tires), or if there are better options out there. What do you guys think?

Obviously we use 3/4 ton pickups around her to run around in pastures. You must have a defective Dodge or bad pasture if you destroyed a Dodge.
