  • Email account compromised or spoofed?

I'm getting a bunch of delivery failed notifications on one of my email accounts. The returned mail is definitely spam.

I've been reading the headers to see if my email provider smtp servers are listed and I haven't been able to see any, that accord to my own, most of the time the only servers listed are that of the destination mail server.

So is there any way to tell if my email account is being spoofed versus if has been compromised?

  • Yahoo Answers needs the ability for the question asker to mark a 'great answer'?

Don't you agree? How many times have you answered a question first and someone comes with the exact same answer and get the 'best answer' for it. Or how many questions have you asked where 2 or more people have had excellent well-written answers and you can only award one of them with the 'best answer'.

  • Is my cat's incision ok?

I recently spayed my cat Cookie after her first pregnancy. The vet discovered and treated an early stage of pyometra. She told me to give Cookie antibiotics twice a day as well as to inspect her incision regularly. Well, I remembered the antibiotics but forgot to inspect the incision till now (Day 3 after her spay).

Her incision looks like this. There is some redness and a little but of what looks like dried pus. Is her incision healing OK or should I take her back to the vet?

  • Ram 1500 squealing noise when AC/Heater turned on?

I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The truck has been making a squealing noise upon startup and will squeal continuously very loudly. The squealing will sometimes stop when I give the accelerator pedal some gas or actually start driving. The belt doesnt appear to be loose and in fact I can t even move the belt by hand unless I also give the tensioner a good pull too.

One thing I noticed is that when the blower (for heater and AC) is turned off that the squealing will stop. I can even start the thing with the heater/AC off and there will be no squeal.

Anyone have an idea on what it might be?

  • How do I open up a square flange pump?

I have a square flange water pump being used as a sewer pump, it s a sideways mounted AO Smith C48D47Z01, but if you google search for square flange pump you ll see the type of pump it is.

Anyways, when I flip the switch to turn it on, the pump will hum for about 10 seconds without spinning up, and then throw the breaker. I m guessing that maybe the impeller is jammed?

I ve removed the 4 bolts that hold the motor onto the pump area and I can rotate the motor housing, but can t figure out a way to seperate the motor and get at the impeller. Can anyone hazard a guess at how I might be able to do this?

  • Is it wise to convert a 2010 Dodge RAM 2500 for off-road usage?

I'm looking for a new truck (or new used truck) and i'm thinking of converting my existing truck (a 2010 Dodge RAM 2500) for use in rough terrain/pasture. I've tried using it as a pasture truck before but ended up damaging the rear drive train. I'd never take it out into the pasture again as-is based on the costliness of the repair.

I wonder though, if there's something I can do to make it into a suitable pasture truck (ie: lift kit, mud tires), or if there are better options out there. What do you guys think?

  • Should I invest in a better camera body or lense?

I have a ~$2000 budget for camera gear and my shots will mostly be for a local newsletter. I want the ability to shoot all kinds of shots from sports (which may need telephoto) to portraits (which would benefit from high aperture lenses).

Assuming I wanted to go Canon, i'm thinking of investing in a mid-range DSLR camera body (like a 70D) and maybe a cheap telephoto lense to go along with the kit lense. Or I could buy a lower-tier body (like a T5i) and go with a better walkaround lense instead, or maybe even a ~50mm prime and a better telephoto.

    What are your thoughts?

  • Is PDF an acceptable format to send to a printing service for high quality signage?

I've been asked to convert some logos into vector format, and often send them to my client in PDF so that he can view them and approve them. The logos are to be put onto high quality signage (billboards, banners, etc).

Since the PDF files contain the vectors, is this an acceptable format for printing services or should I submit it as another format such as EPS or AI?

  • If the RCMP run your plates?

If the RCMP run your plates and find out that they expired recently (oh, like lets say you were on your way to renew them) are they obligated to pull you over immediately?

  • Digestive system going bonkers?

Hi all. I've recently started experiencing a wide variety of digestive system dysfunctions. From low-acidity heartburn, to upset stomach, bloating, diaharrea (mostly clear water), to gas (burpy egg gas, and gas on the other end too).

The symptoms are fairly uncomfortable when combined but none of them have a very high level of severity and it seems like something I can simply endure until my body fights off whatever is disturbing its balance while taking some antacids to relieve some of the heartburn/bloating. That said are there any warning signs here of a disorder that has a good probability of worsening?

Do my symptoms match the profiles for anything contagious?

  • Why do firefighters use SCBA instead of rebreathers?

I'm a volunteer fire fighter, and curious why Fire Departments are not equipped with rebreathers, but rather SCBAs which have a shorter operating time due to the fact that the oxygen exhaled is not recirculated back into the system. I would be grateful if anyone can satisfy my curiousity!

  • Recent manual transmission change on 95 Sunfire, difficult shifts?

My father and I recently replaced the transmission on my 95 sunfire to fix issues with worn 2 and 4 gear synchros and a gear oil leak on one of the drive axles which eventually led to tranny failure. Anyways, the tranny we replaced it with was originally for a chevy cav (supposedly 100% compatible) with relatively low mileage. The 'new' tranny definitely worked better than my old one but with a stiffer and less forgiving feel on the shifter.

Anyways i've noticed that it's difficult to shift into first gear, as in there is a lot of resistance and it's not so easy to find the sweet spot, which BTW is not on the dead top-left of the shifter but rather a 1/4 inch towards the right of where it should be and there is a noticeable amount of resistance to hit 1st. Also sometimes when shifting into reverse my car will make a low-pitched click sound which makes me feel as if I didnt shift properly (although i'm certain that I did).

A few more details: There is a label on the car that says to use GM Syncromesh but all they had at the store was Motomaster Gear Oil, and I think I purchased the one with the right viscosity rating. Also, could it be possible that I didnt bleed the clutch slave cylinder enough when I hooked it up?

  • Stray cat spraying in my house, however...?

There is a local cat that I am considering adopting, he is friendly and I feed him well -- however he sometimes comes into my house and sprays and I can't necessarily just keep the doors closed all the time (multiple kids -- he tends to slip in when the door opens).

He is a friendly Tom and is approachable, but still comes into my room, specifically to spray -- if I happen to leave my room door open.

I've heard that tom cats tend to spray in order to create an area that they will feel safe in and am wondering if this tom is spraying in an attempt to try and get adopted or if he sprays because a queen used to inhabit the house and the tom misses her.

Will adopting the tom and giving him free access to the house give him a sense of security that will prevent him from spraying? (assuming I neuter him as well)

  • Mom cat wants something, but what is it?

My cat has kittens that are about 3 weeks old. They are capable of walking around and still drink milk from her. Recently she has started 'coo'ing often, rubbing against me, and meowing at me despite having all of her normal needs met. I get the feeling she wants something from me since she wants my attention often, but I don't know what. Maybe someone else has a good idea about what it is?

  • Sewage pump runs continuously?

I live in the country and have both a septic tank and lagoon system. My sewage pump sits on a table and draws in water from the sump hole which I believe is pumped out to a lagoon (I have observed water coming out of the ground near my house). However, I have noticed that it runs continuously 24/7 and on some days loses its prime as quickly as 12 hours, causing basement flooding if left unchecked (the sign that its lost its prime is that the water level in the basement toilet will rise).

I'm not very well acquainted with how floats work to shut off the pump, however I have checked the tank outside and the levels on the tank are fairly low. There is a device inside of the tank that is attached to a long power cable that runs into the house (I assume to the basement pump). The device has another device attached (via short cable) to it however both of the devices appear to sink inside of the tank.

Further complicating the matter is that heavy snow and spring rains have raised the water level of the nearby land much higher than normal. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong here?

  • Sewage pump needs frequent priming?

I've recently been having problems with my sewage pump running continuously but not removing water from the basement, eventually causing flooding. The first thing I notice when it does this is that the basement toilet starts to overflow, and then the water in the reservoir hole rises and eventually water starts seeping through the basement floors.

I had my uncle come and look at it when I was having one of these emergencies and he taught me how to check the pump and prime it; however I had to prime it a few days ago as well when the basement started flooding and I am worried that the pump may start acting up again soon.

Is there anything I can do myself to prevent the pump from drying out, or should I replace the entire thing?

  • Windows equivalent of /dev/null?

I am sharing a thunderbird profile between Linux and Windows installs -- however one of the extensions that works on the Linux side (a python-based notifier addon for Docky) causes a problem when Thunderbird is opened from Windows.

The exact problem is that I get two popups saying that 'indicator.py' has no programs associated with it which I must dismiss if I want Thunderbird to open. If it happened in Linux, I would simply associate the .py extension with /dev/null and have the error done away with, but I'm not sure how to do something similar from Windows (Vista).

    Any ideas?

  • Bad shaving habits catching up on me when trying to grow a beard?

I've succeeded in growing a small beard, a chin strap type however there is a problem with the direction of my hairs. The hairs on the left side of my face go downwards towards the middle, and the hairs on the right side of my face go upwards towards my ear. I think this was caused by which direction I used when shaving with a manual razor. Is there any way to correct this?
