Was I prescribed the proper medicine?

So I was recently prescribed Lexapro 10mg which is an anti-depressant.

I work 40 hours a week as a full-time college student and experience a mixture of fatigue, anxiety, and inability to focus. In order to get through my day I need to drink a lot of caffeine. Do you think Lexapro was the right prescription? My doctor himself was going to prescribe me something else but the nurse argued to prescribe something "lighter". I simply need something to intensify my focus whilst giving me an extra boost throughout my day.

I'm sure my anxiety may go down but will this increase my focus? Should I ask for something else when I visit him next month?

Maybe you need a better dr; there are good meds for anxiety.

If this is your first go around with an antidepressant, Lexapro is perfect. If you aren't feeling as well as you'd hoped, talk to Dr about upping the dosage. Lexapro has very few side effects and doeant make you gain weight like many others in that drug class. Id stick with it.

Give the meds time to work. It can take up to 7 weeks to start feeling positive effects. See how it goes.
