Boss fired me, two days later tells me he made a mistake. Do I go back?

The question is pretty self explanatory. My boss fired me and had remorse and now wants me back. I have not tried to negotiate more money as I sincerely like my boss, but he kept trying to get me to come back after I told him no. Do I stand my ground? Try to get something out of this in order to go back? Go back anyway?

I have every text message to cover my *** with other potential jobs in case they worry about my firing

If you need the money then yes go back and ask for a raise.

You seem pretty ambivalent about going back and not at all desperate. Plus he wants you back. That puts you in a strong bargaining position, so bargain, bargain, bargain for more money or vacation. Don't go overboard, but do go to what you think is the reasonable limit.

And then if you do go back, do two things: 1) Work hard and do a superior job. And 2) Keep looking for another job, because anyone volatile enough to make the mistake of firing you for the wrong reason once is likely to do it again.

    Good luck.
