Will a high flow air filter save on gas?
Common sense says the computer will detect the extra air and add more fuel to balance the mix. So common sense says it will use more fuel with the filter. You can find claims online that these filters save gas are they right?

The computer is not that stupid. A bigger air filter will give you a very slight improvement in fuel consumption. If you want bang for the buck, the best way to save gas is to make sure your tires are inflated at the maximum recommend pressure for the car. If the car says 32 to 36 then use 36.

Complete nonsense. If improving gas mileage were this easy without serious drawbacks, the auto maker would have implemented this already. The less restrictive an air filter is, the more debris it will let in. All this garbage heads towards the engine and the sensors en route to the engine. Go look up how much an oxygen sensor or a mass airflow sensor costs and how much it costs to hire someone to diagnose a problem caused by a bad sensor. Even if you can save a few pennies worth of fuel, you'll end up risking causing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in damage.

No it's all BS. They advertise to get gullible people to buy there junk products. With the car manufacturers trying to get the most MPG It's a joke that people even fall for it!

No it wont.
As you say, the computer will detect the increased air flow, and adjust the fuel flow to suit.
But you will adjust the accelerator and hence the throttle plate to maintain the speed you want to drive at. So the throttle will restrict the air flow to it's normal level anyway.
The ONLY time a high flow air filter might make ANY difference is if you are driving at full throttle, AND high revs. And if you are trying to save fuel, that's NOT how you drive.

it increases air and fuel flow that is correct but it produces more power in the engine thus reducing number of cycles it must do to push the same HP rating...
this saves fuel
