Taipei wit or without the South?

Update:

I will go in Taiwan for 13 days in next January. I can figure that I spend all the time around Taipei.

Will I miss a lot if I don't go South? I mean the feeling to be somewhere else, different of Taipei.

    If you haven't been to Taiwan before, you need also go out of Taipei and vicinity. You could book a tour group trip before you arrived at Taiwan.

    . Jiufen sky lantern (via small railway day pass),

    . Beitou hot springs

    . Tamsui (Fort San Domingo - originally build by Spanish in 16xx) and vicinity

    East:

    Mid-Taiwan:

    . Sun Moon lake

    South:

    . Ali Mountain

    . Jade Mountain (Yushan)

    . Kenting National Park

    . Tainan City - temples, Fort Zeelandia.
