He demanded that any number of animals be sacrificed because he like the smell of them roasting.

He clearly does not love anything or anyone.

Animals because He created them before He created man.

Humans were created in God's image meaning that they possess the capacity to reflect his qualities. For example, we have the ability to love and form relationships with others because God loves. We can also plan and contemplate our future, which animals can not. Also, most importantly, Jehovah God sent his Son, Christ Jesus to die in our behalf so that we can have the opportunity to gain the life Adam lost. This is the greatest act of love! - John 3:16

According to the Christian tradition, God loves all of creation, including all the animals. As Scripture states: "Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!" (Gen 1:31) In other words, after God finished creating all God made -- the heavens, earth, sea, land, plants, animals, and humans -- God reflected on all of it with infinite love.

But Scripture also states, "God created human beings in his own image" (Gen 1:27), thus making them as loved as God's own appointed angels in heaven. As the psalmist writes,

"What are mere mortals that you should think about them,

human beings that you should care for them?

Yet you made them only a little lower than the angels

and crowned them with glory and honor." (Ps 8:45)

Jesus also taught that God loves the animals, but it's human beings that hold a special place in God's heart when he said, "Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds!" (Luke 12:24)

So, does God love animals? Yes! Does God love humans? Yes! God does indeed love both. But human beings are what made all of creation "very good," as apposed to simply "good" (Gen 1).

Thanks for the question. May much peace, love, and blessings be always with you :)
