How come the famous tenor Jose Carerras sang songs in lower keys than most tenors do?

Using caro mio ben what's the difference between these other tenors and Jose Carerras?

Jose Carreras sings "Caro mio ben" in a different key than Fritz Wunderlich and Ramon Vargas, because Mister Carreras chose a key that is most comfortable for him.

One aspect of singing art songs is that the singer can choose a key that best suits his voice instead of singing the art song in the intended key of the composer.

    Probably for ease.
