sounds like another new basis for a scam

They're trying to scare someone into paying them off. It's a scam.

We get them in the UK. They just use automated dialing. Blow a whistle down the phone, that will deafen them.

looking for a payoff for damages you did not do. Next time you get this call, block the number. Do not even say hello.

    Scams and cold-callers.

If they're going to waste your time, why not waste theirs?

My boyfriend had the same (he also doesn't drive). In the end he got so fed up with it, he let the call carry on for ages, pretending he had been in an accident and going along with it. Then casually drops it in that he didn't think insurance would be valid, due to the dead prostitute in the boot.

There was a deathly silence, and the 'click' as they hung up!
