Is there anywhere in the US where I can start up a free blog anymore?
In 2004, I had a great free blog on Xanga, but then they tried to update and make people pay, and I don't think it's even there anymore.
I know there's blogger, but the pictures we post to the blogs take up space on our Google drive.
So is there anyplace I can go, post stuff for free, and build community?

Try the very bottom-end (no options) package from WordPress.com. You're allowed something like 3 GB of space.
