You need a college degree, you need a college degree for every profession in today's world. It's a little silly to finish high school and think you can just be a graphic designer, real world doesn't work like that at all. You really think you can get a job in a field the requires two years of community college? Not happening, ever. Sorry. What experience are you going to get in something you've never really trainer or studied in?
I took a visual arts course for college, thinking I was going to take graphic art and design for my second year, but I changed my mind because I don't think graphic art is for me. To be a graphic designer you have to be familiar with computers and programs, and graphic design isn't really your own creative ideas, its more a company tells you what they want, and you do it. So you boss will say, "Make me a poster that's black and green with a dog on the front" and you have to do that.
Every business needs a graphic designer, every single one. The bad news with that is just because you get a job in your field of graphic design doesn't mean you'll be working at some fabulous place, with a fabulous job. You really have to work your up with graphic design.
Anyways I wish you the best of luck, and congrats on graduating from high school!

"Don't plan on college." That would be a huge mistake unless you are super-talented, super aggressive, and super lucky. The problem is that you will be competing for jobs with other people who DO have college degrees, training, and experience -- and more ambitious than you. You will hardly get noticed. It's not impossible for people like you, but it's a long hard slow road.
