I think you need 9 dividing lines.
... | .1 . | . 2 . | . 3 . | . 4 . | . 5 . | . 6 . | . 7 . | . 8 . | ...
so that's 9 dividing lines to define 8 named parts.
If you count the spaces at the ends as parts, that's 9 dividing lines to define 10 parts.
