How can I correctly use the word retrospective?
I am writing an essay and explains how some people may look back on the events during WWll and what happened to groups such as Jews and disagree on the statement written by Anne Frank that states,"In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." I am wondering how I would be able to use the word retrospective when saying how many people may have a different perspective. I feel like retrospective would be an appropriate word to use in this scenario but I'm not sure what context to use it in.

I guess you could say something like "Taking a retrospective view, many people might disagree with Anne's statement."
I would just say "In hindsight, ..."
