Under settings wifi shows it is not connected but wifi button shows its on and I still can t get on internet ?

WiFi and Internet are two different things. You can have a WiFi connection, which means your device is connected to your router, but you might not have the correct gateway or DNS addresses set up, and you might not even have an IP address on your device.

You, like so many people who ask questions such as this one, leave out important facts such as the operating system and version, the addresses your device is using, the address of your router, the type of device you are using and whether you can access the router's status/configuration pages.

Have you established whether other devices can get Internet access? If not, then it might mean that you currently have no Internet service from your ISP. Note: you will still have WiFi if your Internet is not working.

You will have to gather more information from your system, and possibly try accessing the Internet from an Ethernet connected PC to isolate just where the problem might be.
