How do I listen to music while browising my apps?

This pertains to iPhones. I want to listen to YouTube music while browsing other apps. After I put a song on, I press the home button, I swipe up to access the control panel, and I press play...but it turns on my Music playlist that's built in to the phone. Any suggestions?

Youtube have a subscription service called YouTube Red, part of it gives you the ability to play audio in the background, you also don't get any ads on videos as well. There is no other way of doing it without paying for YouTube Red

Youtube isn't like Apps such as spotify or pandora. Youtube was made as a viewing app, it has no connection to the music on your phone. You are able to so with music apps because there is no video to view, that's what the app was made to do so you can multi-task. I would suggest trying something like pandora or spotify; they're free and if you really like them, you can upgrade for a small price that will be worth it.

YT wants you to subscribe to YT Red in order to get that functionality.

The only workaround I found is on Android. Use FireFox to request the desktop version of the site and look for the video. It works, but navigating the site is pretty bad. I haven't tried this on iOS, though.

But the main thing is that YT wants you to pay.
