    IF 3 = 10P .. then 3/10 = P

    You're just dividing both sides by 10

    When you say ''you divided 3 by 10 and got 0.3'' was that on a calculator ?

    Calculators don't do fractions .. they do decimals !

    3 = 10P

    Dividing both sides by 10 ( because we want to find the value of P)

    3 / 10 = P

    P = 3/10

    Verify:

    3=10(3/10)

    3=3

    3 = 10P

    divide both sides by 10

    3/10 = 10P/10 = (10/10) P = 1*P = P

    P = 3/10 = .3

    To divide 3 by 10 start with 3.

    10 = 10¹ so move decimal point 1 place left giving .3

    10 P = 3

    P = 3 / 10 = 0 • 3

    The way to solve an equation is to do the same thing to both sides. Since one side is 10P, if you divide that by 10 you have P. So divide both sides by 10.

    3 = 10P

    3/10 = (10P)/10

    3/10 = P

    This is what happens when you rely on calculators.

    3 = 10p

    Dividing both sides by 10, you build your fraction already:

    3/10 = 10p/10

    And then cancelling out the 10s on the right side:

    3/10 = p

    0.3 is the same as 3/10.

    10P = 3

    P = 3/10

  • How do you not get that 0.3 and 3/10 are the same thing?

    3 = 10p

    3/10 = 10p/10

    3/10 = p
