The exact same one that is in it. There is a SOHC and a DOHC motor in the 3000. The wiring harnesses and computers are different. Make sure if you find a motor that all of the sensors are the same. If they are in different locations on the motor you're going to have problems.

Don't try to use anything but the same engine, unless you are willing to endure lots of problems. You could use a newer Mitsubishi engine, if it's the same type, but there still may be differences.
A good used engine may be your best choice. A remanufactured engine will cost thousands of $$$.
