Why do people claim that Jesus is G-d given what he said when he said "Why callest thou me good? There is one good, G-d alone."?

I'm just saying, based on my Catholic experience that the Guy doesn't appear to be the Lord. Shema Yisroel.

If you read without the right emphasis you can change the whole meaning of this verse... as you did!

"Why callest THOU me good?" Or "Why do YOU, call me good?"

Jesus is not simply asking why anyone would say He was good. He's effectively asking the man "Are you saying I'm God?"

Jesus said he was God's son, Almighty God said that Jesus was his son.

Jesus plainly stated that he was more than a good man. He said: I am God’s Son. John 10:36 Of course, anyone could claim to be the Son of God. But if Jesus’ claim were false, what would that make him? Really, not a good man, but a great fraud!

The most reliable testimony came from God himself. He twice said concerning Jesus: This is my Son. Matthew 3:17; 17:5 Just think: The Scriptures report only a few occasions when God’s own voice was heard on earth yet on two of them he affirmed Jesus as his Son!

This is by far the best proof that Jesus was who he said he was. Jesus never claimed to be God, but he repeatedly spoke of himself as God’s Son. Even his enemies acknowledged this.

Jesus never even suggested that he was God or was equal to him. So to teach such a thing dishonors Jesus.

He is God’s Son. Whereas his father is Almighty God.

Good example. Jesus says, ""Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone." Exactly, so who then must Jesus be? If only God can forgive sins, then who must Jesus be? If only God can raise man from the dead, then who must Jesus be?

Like shakeel said..... Jesus did not say he was not good, he replied with the statement "nobody is good but God."

And also like Shakeel said according to the Epistles Jesus lived a sinless life. Who can live a sinless life? Can any human being? The bible says we are all alike under sin. Which can only lead us to one conclusion as we look at the rest of the scriptures to confirm it. Jesus is God.

HE WAS STILL HUMAN WHEN HE SAID THAT BUT NOW HE IS BACK UP THERE AGAIN...HE IS PART OF THE TRINITY AND HE ALWAYS WAS...DO U GET IT NOW? GOD IS 3 IN ONE.

You are forgetting rest of scripture. Did he say he was not good? No. He say nobody good but God.

The bible say Jesus was without sin
