Why are age gaps in romantic relationships so taboo?

There's a multitude of reasons, but most likely due to the fact they were born and raised in different times. Just like the answer other person's answer.. looking at someone coming out straight from high school/in early stages of college would be very uncomfortable for me. They can almost be compared as a child to my age, and I don't believe at that time - they really understand what they want because they are still maturing. I'm very fortunate in the fact, I didn't go for a person who had quite an age gap between us and instead a person who was a few years older. We grew together, and I never felt out of place or having to act in a level of maturity I hadn't reached yet.

Not taboo. But you have two people from different eras. I've got no interest in an eighteen year old......just out of school.
