Honda accord, Honda civic, Mazda 6, Mazda 3 , or Nissan Altima?
Which would you choose and why? I do not have a family but still would like enough trunk space.
Bonus: are in car navigation systems worth it?

Firstly, I would forget the Nissan Altima. Nissans are no longer 100% Japanese cars like Honda and Mazda are. Nissans are influenced by Renault now and I believe reliability on Nissans has probably suffered as a result of this.
I believe that Honda and Mazda are both more reliable. When it comes to reliability between Honda and Mazda my feeling is Honda is slightly better than Mazda. However, don't get me wrong because Mazdas are also very reliable cars. I do like the styling of a lot of Mazdas. I am unsure what I think of the latest Honda Civics styling.
I would put it this way if you want the most reliable out of those two brands: By Honda.
However, if you want a car that still has very good reliability and less like just buying what everyone buys then go with the Mazda. Mazdas are still a very reliable car also.
I just feel Honda is just going with the norm type of car and feel Mazda is making cars that are more different, different in a good way than Honda is. If it was me I would be tempted to choose either the Mazda 3 or 6.
Adding on to this you said you want the most trunk space. The Mazda 6 is a bigger car than the 3 is. As for is car navigation systems are worth it I believe that would depend on how much driving you do where you are going to need them. I mean if you just go to work and other places you know at that is it then if the car does not have it fitted as standard you may not want to put extra money into getting it. However, if you are often driving in places you don't know I would get the navigation system.
Long story short if I was you I would be really tempted to get the Mazda 6 as my choice.
I mean not only does it look good during the day just look at it at night

I just feel Honda has some catching up to do, when it comes to styling I feel Mazda feel much more like a 2017 car should.

Honda Accord. Simply put they run really well, providing more room than a civic as well as more power especially if you go with the V6 version. I have NAV in my car and it gets enough use for it to feel important.

I have not had a Nissan but I have had a couple of Hondas and a Mazda. If I was buying today I would go with the Honda Civic if I was looking for a two door and a Honda Accord if I wanted a four door. However, that is from my personal use in the past. I have read recently that a four door Civic is the best buy available. I personally am not a fan of the 4 door Civic styling, but I do love the 2 door Civic styling.

I would take the Nissan off the list and between the Honda and Mazda buy the one with the steepest discount. That would probably be the Mazda. Both are top tier cars.
