No, Albert Einstein wasn't a hoax. I don't see why you think Nikola Tesla being a genius makes Albert Einstein a hoax. They were both geniuses.

I heard this story about Einstein & a 'software' geek from India. They were on a domestic flight in USA, sharing side by side seats. Einstein had a great regard for Indian s/w professionals while the Indian (from india) regraded Einstein as god.

Einstein proposed a 'bet' to kill time. He said "I will put a question & if you can't answer it, you give me $ 5. If I can't answer your question, well ... I'll give you $ 100 (reminded of his supreme intelligence, with justifiable pride)".

Einstein asked "What is the distance from Earth to Moon? ". The Indian instead of saying 'I don't know', quietly pulled $ 5 bill & presented it to Einstein, who pocketed it.

Einstein said "you ask now" to the Indian. Indian asked, "what is it that goes up on three legs & comes down on four legs?". Einstein thought about it for quiet awhile & said "I don't know". He gave the Indian $ 100. Then he asked him "what is it that goes up on three legs & comes down on four legs?". The Indian waved his head sideways like Indians do when they mean to say 'I don't know'. The Indian profited $ 95.

Moral: Being a genius alone isn't sufficient, if you are dealing with an educated Indian.
