Tooth hurts a lot. Any tips?

My mom just did a operation on one of her teeth and there's like a 50/50 chance of the tooth actually surviving. But she doesn't want to use pain killers but she says it hurts a lot all the time. Any tips on how to decrease the pain a little without using pain killers?

People don't give Ibuprofen enough credit. It used to be a prescription drug and is effective in reducing the pain in tooth pain. Pain killers tend to make me sick, so I actually just use Ibuprofen. Also, prescription dosages were 400-800 mg. So you can take 600 mg twice a day for a couple of days with no ill effects as long as you are not on other medications.
