If I clean my teansitions glasses with ammonia free windex will it damage them.?

I ve looked at several sights that say not to use windex to clean your glasses but first of all some of them say that it s because the ammonia will damage them, and second of all they all they all say not to use things like your shirt or a tissue to clean your glasses either, I m not interested in babying my glasses like that, I m not asking if I might start to notice some negative effects in a few years or something, I figure I ll probably need new glasses in a few years anyway because my prescription will chage, my question is will ammonia free windex do serious immediate damage to my glasses.

Also incase it matters my glasses aside from having transitions lenses are also scratch resistant and glare resistant.

Windex is made for glass, not plastic. It will damage the anti reflection coating as well as the finish on the frame. It has a dye in it to make it blue, well that gets in between the lenses and the frame and corrodes the frame rather quickly, plastic or metal frames are both damaged. It also turns the nose pads an awful green color very fast if you have a metal frame.

There are real cleaning solutions for lenses in every optical store...use it.

Trust me the damage will happen rather quickly. They make lenses cleaner which is made for glasses. Being lazy is a pretty stupid reason for ruining your glasses.
