Will antibiotic resistance be what finally leads to the collapse of Western civilization?

Pretty soon the only way to prevent bacterial infection from spreading will be amputation, since bacteria are becoming resistant at such a fast rate.

That infectious epidemics that could decimate the human population will occur is almost certain but it is highly unlikely to be restricted to "the West". Such outbreaks would almost certainly quickly become global (travel guarantees this) and ALL regions and cultures would be effected.

You would not believe the number of people in this day and age that still demand antibiotics for minor things and viruses. And there are of plenty of providers that just hand them out to keep patients happy. A whole mind set has to change, in addition to people's use of sterilizing agents rendering their immune system naive. Antibiotic resistance is truly frightening.

We need to stop using hand sanitizers, lysol type stuff, feeding anti-biotics to our food supply, etc. We can do something about it - but the big bucks from those companies stuff into congress's pockets and DTs, it won't happen.

The way to stop it is to allow ourselves some exposure to bacteria.
