In a deterministic universe, true free will cannot exist.

We may have the impression that we have free will, but we are still solely subjected to all past experience and influences that are external to us.

Yes, of course I believe that God given free will exists, regardless of how much atheists say that God given free will is merely a supposed illusion. Atheists don't believe in God given free will. Instead, atheists believe in something called determinism.

Determinism is basically the notion that God given free will does not exist, & morality is somehow wired in one's brain, & because morality is supposedly hard wired in one's brain, one can not be held morally accountable for their actions? Well, the notion of determinism is one that is riddled with error. One can, & is, held morally accountable for their actions, as they should be.

If people were not held morally accountable for their actions, then everything would be disordered. We have all been bestowed with the beautiful gift of God given free will by God, but, we should always try to use our God given free will wisely. We should not abuse it. We have to use or God given free will to make progress & maintain order.

Yes. God's knowing what you'll choose doesn't negate free will any more than in asking my niece what color she wants it is negated by the fact that she will reliably choose pink.

FYI God reads your life all at once. Therefore it is confusing because He kind of knows before you choose and He kind of doesn't. I presume it has to do with the creation of time for us to dwell in.

Of course free will exists. We have no other choice.

The idea we have free will from a deity is perverse. If it is given it means it is not really free will.

I do! In fact, the Bible tells us that God created man in his ‘image and likeness,’ and one of the faculties God himself has is freedom of choice. (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 7:6) When he created humans, he gave them that same wonderful faculty—the gift of free will. That is one reason why we find it frustrating to be enslaved by oppressive rulers.

To go with the gift of free will, God gave us the ability to think, weigh matters, make decisions, and know right from wrong. (Hebrews 5:14) Thus, free will was to be based on intelligent choice. We were not made like mindless robots having no will of their own. Nor were we created to act out of instinct as were the animals. Instead, our marvelous brain was designed to work in harmony with our freedom of choice.

    But I repeat....

“Free Will” is a concept that the Catholic Church invented to explain the paradox that evil exists in a world that was created by a perfect God.

“Free will” is built into Christian theology to take the blame away from their God and make the Human responsible for sin in the world.

And there is big money in sin. So they invented many sins.

They even gave us a Sin to atone for at birth.

    "$Ca-ching$"...(sound of cash register)

It’s hard for this old atheist to conceive of a “loving God” who creates humans and gives them “free will” to choose, Blissful Paradise or eternal torture of fiery Hell forever and ever and ever and ever, ......Amen.

This God doesn't let his creations die... He tortures them after death...

So much for John 3:16, eh?

    Of course

but note, that freewill gives you the freedom to choose. Not the freedom from the accountability of those choices

You are free to walk off a cliff. You are not free from being turned into a grease spot at the bottom

so choose wisely, you will be held accountable
