Fusion and fission in stars?

Science says that there is a process called fusion and fission happening in the sun.

If humans can replicate this process, will this bring about enough energy to sustain life for thousands of years?

Or, is that process so great of a feat, It will grow beyond our control wiping out Humanity?

It is only fusion. No fission.

We do replicate that process of fission in atomic reactors to produce electricity commercially. Attempts are being made for fusion too, but without succes till date.
