King Tut was at a great change in Egyptian history - where the powers tried to go with one god instead of the pantheon of gods which they had used all through their history - this makes him very interesting.

Bits of his library were discovered at Armarna with letters from foreign powers - so that certainly made him interesting.

His grave was such a great window into ancient Egyptian life because he wasn't all that rich - so many of the thousands of things in his tomb were used by him. Often with grave goods, furniture and stuff like that was manufactured just to bury. But in the case of Mr. Tut, there were his actual walking sticks and weapons and chariots and his throne. There's a book out which covers all the items in the tomb many of which nobody ever really gets to see.

Finally Mr. Tut was a guy who the ancient Egyptians were frantic to erase from history by knocking his name off of all the monuments they could find. But Opps...... King Tut ends up being the one guy we all remember now.
