Can I give the bank teller an envelope of cash?

There is a long line behind me. I gave the bank teller a tall stack of cash for a deposit with no envelope. She smiled, but I wasn't sure if it was proper to give it inside an envelope or just have it in plain sight.

    You can put it in envelope if you like. In UK, many banks provide deposit envelopes which you can fill in private and deposit at an ATM inside the branch.

    Don't know about other countries
