Because there was something else going on. It could be your car matched the description of one they were looking for, or it could be you got fidgety when you saw the cop.

Either way, if the officer thought something was suspicious, he would have called for backup. Because the other cars don't always know who will get there first, they both responded. Pretty typical.

what an ignoramus youngster !!!! you have no idea what it's like to be a LEO, and since the Officers don't have x ray vision, they have no idea who is occupying the vehicle, what the occupants may have for weapons, if the perps are high or what....THAT'S why an Officer will sometimes call for backup............the traffic stop is about the most dangerous scenario am LEO can find him or herself in............be thankful that they did not cite you for other reasons - or worse !!
