like i wanna be able to get away with a lie without my friend knowing. as an example i say something that's a joke and i want her to believe it but then she tricks me and says "swear to god if you're not joking". and i don't swear to god because the legend says you will go to hell for that. but how can i say swear to god without actually meaning it

You can't. Even if you substitute, the intent is there, and God knows. I have come to the realization that, for myself, when I say, "g-damn" or other such curse words/phrases, I AM sincere, and I am NOT taking the Lord's name in vain! I MEAN IT!

Simple: You say you swear to god without actually meaning it. God knows what your thoughts are. You can't hide anything.
