What can I do about my mental health?
I've been diagnosed with chronic depression for about 6 years. I went through some therapists and meds but that didn't help at all. I know I should keep trying to see what works for me, but I'm not a rich man. I just can't afford mental care and it's slowly killing me.
Is there something I can do, or am I doomed to spend the rest of my life in pain until I kill myself?

keep trying new medications, different dosages. If you can find the right one, your life could change.

maybe you need a new perspective on how depression takes place and then what to do about it when it starts.

The thing is, you don't know ANYONE that has killed themselves and has come back from death to assure you once you die your emotional pain is gone.
So I don't think suicide is the answer here.
I struggled with depression for a long time myself and since a very early age. Therapy helped because I found a good therapist and also because I did other stuff that helped, like:
Eating clean because some chemicals in the food can get worse depression
Exercising . because the endorphines that working out create help you to feel better
Start a hobby that takes you out of your own mind like painting or dancing
MEDITATION this helped A LOT. There are even videos about how to do it on youtube. There's no wrong way to meditate so go to Youtube and start.
Volunteer. Once you get out of your personal bubble and realise that other people have it worse than you and yet FIND A WAY to thrive and live with a purpose, you look at your depression with different eyes.
So yeah, do that and tell me later.
