How to find your life as precious?

I was reading a article about people who commit suicide and it said this in the article:

"they cannot believe their lives are precious enough to make them worth living".

How can anyone see there own life as precious? How is this accomplished?

    I remember reading that each person only gets one body. I know that seems obvious but it's the same with life - we only get one, so we might as well make it the best we can.
