How do liberals feel about not being able to tax churches?

It would be justice if, for once, the ones who simply collect money are held to the same standards as the ones who produce wealth.

Churches own property that is protected and served by infrastructure paid for with public tax money. They can damn sure pay taxes on their property and bingo profits.

In some areas of the US, churches ARE required to pay property taxes. The US Supreme Court has ruled it's constitutional, as long as all non-profit organizations are required to pay it. This started after megachurches began gobbling up high-dollar land.

SOMEBODY has to pay for the roads to the church, policemen and firemen to respond to it when necessary, ...

I feel that they should, at least, pay property taxes.

As for hands all over the collection plate, WHO is siphoning off collection money? We keep seeing scandals involving Christians and embezzlement. That's been going on for eons. At least if churches were taxed, the money would go straight to the IRS and be used for things that benefit us all -- schools, highways, medical research, the military, etc.

It depends if they are profit making or not. There's plenty out there that are more like businesses than charities

Think how much lower those high taxes you complain about would be if churches paid property taxes.

I agree those religious parasites have been skimming the gullible for far too long, as well as providing a safe haven for pedophiles. Most give nothing back except lies and abuse. Tax them like any other business
