Regarding a Sony FD Mavica...I am still using my 1987 model of the Sony FD Mavica, and am finding a quirk with the images.?

Sometimes ,when I put in the Floppy Disk, and take the photo, the image comes out with a magenta filter all over it. I can then turn off the camera, and retake the same shot in the same circumstances - seconds later, and the image is captured clearly as my eye saw it.

Can anyone explain what is making this happen?

It is only sometimes inconvenient and annoying - but all of the versions

of FD s that I have do the same thing.

I don't think they make Floppies anymore, and not all same size floppies

work in the cameras, for some reason!

Thanks for your thoughtful consideration.

You could buy a "new" one on eBay for $12 or, as Steve says, you could join us in this century for a very small investment. I mean, if you're getting good shots out of that, imagine what you could do with technology advancements in the past 30 years?!

You may be able to find new floppies on eBay. Or Staples, really. But if you say not all work then it may be a high density vs. low density issue? Never having used a Mavica I'm not sure what its requirements were.

So what are your requirements that make this the ideal equipment? What are you needing that can't be found in current technology?

Oh dear. Sorry, but all I can ask is WHY are using something of such horrid and outdated design and performance? As much as I despise cell phones, even they are far superior to that old Mavica. A little $100 point and shoot digital camera that can take hundreds of photos on an SD card and has 10 times the resolution of that Mavica would make like lots better for you. C'mon, time to come into the 21st century. Using a Mavica now would be like someone using a Model T and wondering why they are having problems keeping up with the traffic while driving on the interstate.
