Do you buy all your kids school supplies?
Okay, I got my child's last progress report with his next years "school supply list". He is going into the 1st grade.
I cannot help but be agitated by the demands; which I have valid reasons to be upset... I just want to know if there are other individuals who dislike it, as I do.
The school list consists of 4-24 crayon packs, 2 jumbo marker packs, 4 glue sticks, 2 packs of colored pencils, 2 packs of (specific name) pencils, 2 packs of (specific name) large erasers, 2 packs index cards, 4 composition books, 2 1 inch binders, 5 plastic folders, 4 packs of black/blue expo markers, 4 packs of white copy paper, 2 packs of highlighter, 2 small Ziploc baggies, 2 gallon Ziploc baggies. 4 boxes of tissues, 2 things of hand sanitizer, back pack, headphones, and scissors.....
Last year I had a list similar, which I gave all the asked supplies. Only I know my child never used them all; they asked for 4 packs of 1000 cnt index cards. My son had "power words" come home for 2 weeks on these index cards, 10 words, only 8 kids in the class. Never seen the cards come back nor does the math add up---where is the returned or excess cards?
Heres the root of my question: Do you buy everything on the list? My child is going to a public school that gets grants and sponsorship to cover supplies and operation funds. Why am I being asked to supply additional supplies, for other kids and the teacher?? I will give where I cannot but I feel like I am being taken advantage of. So do you?

The list is a bit overkill, but it's not that bad. There are some things that don't really make sense, like headphones and scissors, for example. The things on the list will last more than a year except for the paper products. I'm surprised they didn't add a stapler and hole puncher to the list, along with a ruler, calculator, and slide rule, lol,
