Bought a car 3 months ago. Everything was in order car had only covered 60k. Today i was stopped by police. All checks came out and.?
BE PATIENT PAUL I HAVE TO TYPE THE QUESTION!police then after doing checks looked at tyres. None were illegal but one had the rotation arrow pointing the wrong way. Apparently ive been driving for 3 months backwards on one wheel. I said id bought the car like that but the policeman said i should have checked the tyres direction. I am wanting to fight this pathetic charge.

To get this right, many tyres these days are directional, though apparently not in America from some of the answers.
They're designed with the tread constructed to be particularly good in one direction at removing water, which is rather important in the UK. As a consequence of this they are NOT good at doing their job if fitted the wrong way round and this is considered to be dangerous.
You are entitled to reject the fixed penalty and instead take it to Court. You should be aware, though, that the Court will remind you that you as driver are responsible for ensuring that the car is roadworthy, and if you are convicted it will cost you considerably more than the ticket.
Personally I'd get the tyre fitted properly and pay the ticket.

Are you asking us that question, or Paul?
If you are not 1 of the safest driver, or if your car causes safety hazard, you need to get it fixed.

As the driver you are responsible to make sure the tires are correct and correctly fitted.
If the car has direction sensitive tires you have to make sure they are correctly fitted.
Owning a car brings obligations.

Never heard of a cop checking a tire.

direction of rotation? WHAT? There is no such thing in the USA........don't know where you are from, but if their is a law, and a clearly marked arrow on a tire ( ROTFLMAO.)....then you are guilty of not noticing it when you bought the car so pay up, sonny........
and I have no idea how such a law can be........tires aren't made to turn in only one direction
