My Kindle Fire HD keeps saying the SD card has been removed.?

It has not removed, it is still in there. And the Fire re-downloads apps and books which are actually on the SD card.

I have tried restarting the Fire, pulling out the card and putting it back in. What can anyone tell me?

Some people have to use a small flat head screwdriver (instead of a fingernail) to push in their SD card until it clicks in securely:

Others suggest that if your SD card is firmly in but is not recognized by the Fire, a reboot will usually fix that. Hold the power button in for 30 seconds or until the Fire either asks if you want to reboot/restart it, or just starts rebooting. Let it do its long shutdown and restart, and see if your problem has gone away.
